Joseph Dorn, in Neustadt, Germany, made the first Prix in 1939. It inherited the basis of its personal design from Dorn's earlier Dornlei model. Dorn kept making similar models with only small changes well into 60's. But this first model had something that others didn't: a bakelite lid, that turns to cover the meter. Unfortunately the mechanism was quite fragile, so the lid has usually broken by now.

I have seen two versions: one like mine, that has clear metal colored dial with outlined letters in logo, and another with painted grey dial and solid metal colored letters.

I have got two of these. One from Mons, Belgium and other from Leipzig, Germany. Both in good condition with original boxes, and a manual. Other has a small crack in the lid, but the other is intact.
